North Coast National Lismore Show
A massive "THANK YOU" to everyone who participated in our Paper Plane flying competition throughout the North Coast National Lismore Show!
Lots of fun and laughter was had by all (young and ...older... alike!) and even though a lot of locals are still in "recovery mode", we were still able to raise $40 for charity (which we're hoping Katrina Beohm Real Estate may match). Each participant was asked to nominate a charity they would like the donations to go to at the end of the competition. They were also asked to nominate a flood-affected local business which is where the prize of a $100 gift card would be purchased from.
The winner was Goonellabah resident and Year 7 student at Trinity High School, 13-year-old Hamish Bailey, who lives with his 2 brothers and sister and pets Pretzel the sausage dog and multiple fish.
Hamish asked if he could use his own design - which he did. A super-impressive, super-complicated model of the Spectre aircraft, which he whipped up from memory in just a minute or so! Hamish's love and skill for origami stems from his interest in military history and aircraft. He also enjoys documentaries, research and politics - local, national and international.
Hamish says he will be back to defend his title of reigning Paper Plane CHAMPION of the North Coast National next year so I can't wait for that!
Hamish - thanks to you, International Aid Organisation, Caritas, will be receiving the donation! For those who aren't aware, Caritas means "love" and their motto is "Ending Poverty, Promoting Justice and Restoring Dignity" and they have been operating since 1897.
Good luck and have fun spending your $100 at Toy Kingdom Lismore!
A special mention to Griffin and Addison who had seen the competition advertised and were waiting for me when I arrived to set up and were the first enthusiastic "punters". Well done in the Lego challenge too, Addie!
Some of the entertainment at the community stage is pictured. And there are a few furry and feathered friends thrown in for good measure!
Thanks to Lismore Show Society for a great and free event, at which we hope to see everybody again next year! And it was great to meet a whole heap of new friends!
